Lv31 got to meet this inspirational Christian designer and model.  She has modeled for a few designers as well as that she also graduated from the prestigious London school of fashion. She is not ashamed to let the world know that she lives for Christ in an industry where Soo few are willing to stand out for Christ. Lv31 got to know her better in a brief chat.

1. How would you describe your style?

I’m really experimental so I dibble and dabble in everything; a bit of Indie, a bit of sophistication with a bit of grunge with my many pairs of Dr.Martens....

2. What inspires you when deciding what to wear?

I dress according to how I feel, if I feel pretty ill put on heels if I feel abit slouchy and not bothered ill put on Dr M’s or some converses, I love my ChuckTaylors their great lol.
Apart from dressing how I feel on some occasions I usually just quickly go on websites like lookbook.nu or tumblr.com and see what others are wearing and if I see one that inspires me then I think to myself what do I have like this in my wardrobe that is similar to what Ive I just seen then I’ll just add my own flavour to it .
3. ‘We believe a young Christian Lady can look nice in a classy way without looking ‘ granny’ or trashy’. How do you think woman can achieve this especially when going public places like church?

I always try to dress sophisticated but edgy when going to church I think if you can identify your own personal style but alter it slightly to make it suitable an respectable for different occasions like the House of God I think you will do well. Just putting on a pair of black opaque tights with an above the knee dress will make a difference. I like to wear tailored pieces to church like a blazer or something just to look pulled together and tidy. Also I don’t wear anything in the week that I wouldn’t wear to the church that’s like one of my rules I’ve made for myself. Apart from when its really hot ill throw on some shorts lol

4. Do you believe to be fashionable you have to spend a lot of money on shopping ?

Not atall. People think I am super rich haha because I have so much clothes but its not true most of my clothes range from 5-10 pounds to be honest, I let my sister buy the expensive clothes and I just wear them haha. You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to look expensive, its the way you wear your clothes that’s more important than how much they cost.

5.Where do you shop?

Primark, Roman Road, Walthamstow Market, Bricklane, Charity shops, Ebay, Topshop, River Island, H&M when theirs sale.

6. In this sex fuelled generation , do you believe the media or celebrities influence the way in which you dress?

I believe everyone is inspired by something or someone, consciously or unconsciously, me personally celebrities don’t inspire me there’s noone that I look upto.

7. What is a common mistake that you see among women in church ?
Erm lol in my church most of the woman are stylish and gorgeous and have impeccable style, I don’t think they make any mistakes lol.

A woman who knows her worth as a woman. A woman who has vision, a woman who is full of integrity, a woman who is respected as a wife and a mother. A woman that is a help mate to her husband and brings him happiness.

Is the status of your account “blessed” with very little lol….probably because you are either a student surviving in university, saving up for a new car or your cutting back on your spending till you get a new job or you are a newly married woman still trying to find your financial feet. These situations are not uncommon and we are all likely to come across them.

So just because we are going through a season of having less money to spend , does not mean it should show in our appearance? I am sorry to say but females are known to be victims of this bad habit…including myself lol. We can still maintain a beautiful exterior and a smile as we believe that this season of lack will pass. This article is going to show you to maintain your swag with what you still have in your wardrobe. Without having to spend money on getting new outfits often.

A maxi dress in two different outfits?

Outfit 1 – Here is the maxi dress that worn by itself, surprisingly enough the dress is not from high street!

Tips:

• A gold bead chain wrapped, round the wrist into a bracelet.
• The white ring from H&M, £3.99
• Red heels, Salt n Pepper from £22

Outfit 2 – Running out of skirts to wear?

No worries. Simply just tuck in the top half of your maxi dress, then choosing a different top to wear (on top) with a belt.

 Tips

• Plain green top from Primark, £4
• Black head band from H&M, £2 (which came in a set)
• Bangles are not from the high street, hopefully you’ll get the hint lol.

Outfit 3 – Need a new dress?

Now, the maxi dress is worn as a dress, creating an elegant, smart and sophisticated look.

Tips

• The top (i.e. straps) of the dress was tucked in, with a blazer on top.
• Orange Belt was chosen as it stood out – creating ‘colour blocking’. Dorothy Perkins, £5
• Same gold bead chain (from outfit 1), now worn round the neck as a necklace.

So, ladies there you have it, 3 outfits all from one dress. All completely different from each other, you could hardly tell! That just goes to show that anything is possible, no more excuses….how you carry yourself is vital, when it comes to being LV31 woman.

Sexy? or Comfortable? ….They say its not what you wear but its HOW you wear it !!

   Leggings, See-Through Tights as trousers ……these have become fashion trend .Why?  Are they are sexy ? comfortable?  Are they cheap?  In my opinion, Sadly, NOT every trend can be worn by everyone and some trends should not be followed by any self respecting lady; because leggings reveal  cellulite among other things  and some  of you who wear transparent tights trousers or leggings fail to ensure that the rest of us won’t see your panties OR your backside. I personally dont want to see that! lol 😀 Very few people want to see that walking down the street on a daily basis This is not calling for all leggings to be banned but I believe its not what you wear but how you wear it. CLASSY OVER TRASHY ALL THE TIME LADIES ;-)….Before you start protesting …READ ON !! and hear what some men think about leggings ….LV31 meets 5 men who reveal what they really think about leggings/ ‘see-through tight trouser’ ……

1. Do you  think leggings are appropriate to  wear to church ?

PETER :Yes and no. Some guys who may not be as strong as others and even those that are will get distracted during the service. It’s only natural because we’re manly men. It’s happened to me many times. A scripture comes to mind, 1 Corinthians 8:13; check it out. A female, saved or not, knows what part of their bodies guys like and how to flaunt it. Its funny because ‘some’ females ask each other ‘Do I look hot?’ or ‘Do I look sexy?’ before church. Who are they looking sexy or hot for? However, there are ways to wear leggings without the female’s behind hanging out.So in conclusion, the answer is yes and no depending on how the female wears them

JUWON:I think leggings are appropriate to wear if worn with something that covers the bum area.

RICHARD:Okay firstly I want to state that I personally don’t think its wrong for women to wear leggings/jeggins but I think how they are worn is the core issue were facing today. So what are leggings? If you research the origins of leggings and their purpose you’ll find that leggings when used by women were classed as a form of underwear and was used to keep their legs warm during cold weather or winter seasons and was worn underneath their skirts. It’s interesting that when I spoke to my mum and older women they still view leggings as underwear (my mums 55) but speaking to younger women they view it as regular clothes like jeans. Now dealing with how they are worn this is where I and many other men and women I consulted about this find leggings inappropriate. I don’t think it’s appropriate for women (especially Christian women who should set a Godly standard for others to follow) to wear leggings like their jeans without putting nothing on top of them. Why you may ask? Well simply because the image portrayed when women walk around wearing leggings on their own with nothing on top is one of sexiness, seduction and whorish. Please I don’t say that to offend you but if you only look back just 10 years ago to the red light district culture of prostitution you’ll find that mini skirts, cleavage, and leggings being worn by themselves was one of prostitutes many tricks of the their trade to entice and seduce men into paying for sexual activities with them but now its called “fashion”. I speak these words from a heart of love. I spent much time last year seeking God about these issues because I was concerned as a church youth leader what I was seeing. Then one day God spoke to me very clearly and said “My children should not look sexy, but sophisticated.” I think we’d all agree that leggings don’t give a sophisticated look to women but I submit that they do make you look sexy when worn on their own

YUSUF:well it depends… if the girl is wearing a dress that hits past her knees and it warm or breezy outside i see no problem in her wearing leggings underneath…. emm but ladies take it out context these days and wear some any flimsy top… we need to be modest in our dressing.. WHY? can I see YOUR bum crack in praise and worship..

JC HENRY :If a man was to see a women wearing leggings in church they naturally would consider what their motive is.
I understand most ladies wear leggings because they are easy to wear and are comfortable, however due to the nature of it appearance they can easily be a distraction if seen in front of a mass audience.- 1 Corinthians 8:13, read it.

2.Do you find leggings attractive?

RICHARD:Naturally any man would as he’s being exposed to the beauty and figure of a women which God made appealing to man. As men were attracted by what we see but I think were being allowed to see too much today. Leggings enhance the beauty of women by revealing the size and shape of women but I think the critical question every women should ask themselves is “If men are being attracted to me when I’m wearing leggings what are they being attracted too?” Are they being attract to what I have or who I am? What you have as women is shape, curves of different sizes and proportions etc but these attributes aren’t an indication of who you are. Who you are is the personality underneath the beauty and killer figure. Unfortunately in our society today many women are hurt as they attract men because of what they have and once the guy has sampled what they have they get discarded without the guy ever discovering the amazing person that was underneath the external beauty. I do find it completely inappropriate when you can see a women’s underwear through their leggings. As a Christian man who is required to live celibate until married I definitely don’t want or need to see that.

JUWON:Yes i find leggings attractive because it shows off the girls lower figure, legs and shape but its not something  I would desperately want to see or need to see everyday

JC HENRY:LOL. No. I count it as house clothes personally.. especially as i havnt seen too many people rock it properly on road. Leggings have become jeans.. they are not the same. Simples

YUSUF:NO i dont find them attractive, but it depends on how its worn

3.Would you let / like your wife  to wear leggings?

YUSUF:Yes my wife can wear it around the house and she can if she wears it modestly..

JC HENRY:My wife will know how to dress thats one thing i know for sure! lol.. I wont tell her what to wear as im not a dictator.. by time i have a wife im sure wearing leggings/jeggings or catsuits will be nothing but a laughing matter LOOL

JUWON:I would let my wife wear leggings, like i said above if worn with something that covers the bum area. e.g a long top.

PETER:Depends on how she wears them. But to be honest, at an older age i don’t think they would be appropriate and i hope that my wife wouldn’t want to be wearing  leggings as trousers when she’s 30 as if she’s 18!

RICHARD :No as long as she’s wearing something on top of them to cover herself properly. If she’s at home and its just us in the house then I won’t have an issue with her wearing leggings without something on top of them as its in the privacy of our home but I don’t think it would be appropriate to go out in public like that or if guest were at the house. Ask yourself this would you think its inappropriate if one day a woman of God or your Pastor’s wife turned up to church or was walking down the street in leggings and nothing covering them showing of her bum and figure? What example would she be setting for all the women that look up to her? Nuff said

Ok we heard it all !! Seems like  some of our brothers in Christ share the same view as me of its  NOT what you wear but its HOW you wear it .. I do not condemn wearing leggings or tights but emphasis is that they should be worn in a way that is appropriate. Relating to scripture 1 Corinthians 8:13 :Therefore, if [my eating a] food is a cause of my brother’s falling or of hindering [his spiritual advancement], I will not eat [such] flesh forever, lest I cause my brother to be tripped up and fall and to be offended.This scripture tells us we should not do things that cause others especially men to fall because as mentioned above whether a women or girl is saved or not . Every girl knows what part of their bodies guys like and how to flaunt it!!. Wearing transparent clothes to reveal certain body parts in my opinion is not appropriate. If God has called us to be women of virtue ,clothed with dignity and rightenousness why don’t we receive God’s wisdom and provision in this area of our lives. GOD can give you fashion provision too!! I believe it is possible to look good, fashionable and beautiful in a classy manner…no body is saying walk around in a loooong grey sack dress but remember You are too valuable not to look classy 😉

Most girls’ relationship with shoes start off from an early age, mostly while they are in their early teens, looking at the shoes through the shoe shop window wishing that they could have them to add to their already increasing closet full of shoes, or just wishing that they could pull off those extremely high heels without wobbling with every step they take. As much as we realise our love hate relationship with shoes and the fact that we only wear one third of the amount of shoes we possess we still cannot deny that we’d much rather have them than not. So here is a list of the types of shoes every woman needs to have in her shoe closet and the different types of shoes for different occasions.

Flats or Ballerina pumps

Our early relationship with shoes often starts off with flats or the ballerina pumps as they are often called.

They have little or no heel, are easy to wear, durable and absolutely pain free. They are very good for ladies who are into the casual look and are often the best shoes to go shopping with; they are also good for outings where you know you’ll be spending the day on your feet.

 Sandals

These are often worn when the weather is warm because they are also as comfortable as ballerina pumps while allowing a lot more freedom to the toes. The higher they are up the leg the slimmer they make your legs appear, so if you want your legs to appear slimmer especially if you are wearing a short or knee length skirt get a pair with a little extra buckles up top. They come in a variety of colours and are also good for casual occasions.

Wedges

The wedges are another famous pair with the ladies although there is also an amount of ladies that would rather not wear them. Wedges are good for people who want a little extra lift but are not very comfortable with the idea of wearing heels. This can be worn with just about anything they are also very comfortable.

Kitten Heels

These barely there heeled shoes are great for people who are just learning how to wear heels, they do not give as much of a lift to the person and are often not as attractive but are very comfortable for a long night, it is worth having a pair as they can come in very handy.

Stilettos

Wear at your own risk… Totally…. haaaa!

These are often said to be the best of the lot, why, do I hear you ask? Because unlike all other types of shoes a nice pair of high stiletto can dramatically change the way you look. They are not as comfortable, but hey whoever said beauty was pain clearly knew a thing or two about what was going on. They are worth investing in, can be worn with any type of outfit and if you are a Shorty they can give you a major height transformation. They should mostly be worn when going out for an event or to the office as they are much more appropriate for such events but for some people they are everyday attires. Hey if Victoria Beckham can do it why not you. If you know you are going to be on your feet for a long time rounded toes, open toes or sandals are much better as you will have to deal with less pain which is often more likely with pointy toed heels.

Wearing the right shoes for the right occasion is not only necessary it is also appropriate as it can make or break an outfit And if there is any lesson we have learnt from Cinderella it is that sometimes a pair of shoes can change your life, for all you know you just might find Prince Charming- jokes ;-).
